Why I Do What I Do
Over the years, I’ve witnessed way too many talented, gifted and outstanding women leaders and entrepreneurs who:
- felt dissatisfied and depleted despite their tremendous accomplishments
- were doing work that wasn’t aligned with their passion and gifts
- were disconnected from their authentic essence
- felt they were lacking clarity and focus on what mattered most to them
- were feeling stuck in their comfort zones and afraid to make changes
- had workloads that got in the way of envisioning their path forward
- lacked a trusted ally to think and talk things through with
I do what I do because I want to help women entrepreneurs and leaders get to the heart of the matter and gain clarity on what it would take for them to wholeheartedly flourish and feel soul-satisfied in their work, career and life.
I am passionate about inspiring, empowering and supporting my clients and serving as their Strategic Coach, Think Partner and Well-being Advocate.
This work is what has me flourishing and feeling soul-satisfied!
Strategic thinking is certainly one of my core signature strengths and I love having the opportunity to leverage this strength in my work with clients. Throughout my career, I have been recognized for my strategic planning best practices. I believe it is important to take the time to talk and think things through and identify a proactive, congruent and strategic way to move things forward. I have a particular passion for inspiring clients to create new strategies for enhancing communications.
I bring a unique and creative approach to my work with clients. It can be both visual and kinesthetic and it really brings the visioning process to life. My goal is to inspire clients to infuse mindfulness so they can think differently and envision creative solutions for their opportunities and challenges. Creativity is also at the forefront of my personal renewal practices. I love finding ways to express my essence through photography, writing, poetry, cooking, pinning on Pinterest and creating inspirational word art.
My clients tell me that I have a real gift for helping them to get to the heart of the matter and distilling the essence of their thoughts and ideas. I love inspiring clients to connect the dots in a way that delivers meaning and new insights. Through our work together, I empower clients to explore the field of possibilities and see the big picture. They are then able to envision and map out their unique path forward. My distillation process, helps clients to quiet the distractions so they can gain clarity, find their focus and take congruent action.
Hello, I’m Susan
Susan MacCaul Siegmund, M.A.
Strategic Coach & Creative Think Partner
I bring to my work a powerful combination of expertise, gifts, strengths and experience. I integrate this with my passion for inspiring, empowering and supporting women entrepreneurs and leaders so they can flourish and feel soul-satisfied in their work, career and life.
My extensive resume demonstrates my capacity for both leadership and entrepreneuring. I add to the breadth and depth of my career journey, a Master’s degree in Human Development and more than 15 years of purpose-aligned work as a Professional Certified Coach and Consultant.
My Background & Journey Story
I have a proven track record as both an executive leader and entrepreneur and extensive experience in marketing, talent and culture, professional development and management consulting.
My expertise and education combined with my professional experience make me an invaluable asset to my clients. I leverage my unique strengths, talents and gifts in my role as Strategic Coach and Creative Think Partner for women entrepreneurs and leaders.
I possess a Master’s Degree in Human Development and have been serving others as a Certified Coach for more than 15 years.
While I live and work in the greater Seattle area, my clients are located throughout the Pacific Northwest, across the US and Canada, and some are Expats who are working abroad.
Throughout my career, I have served as an executive leader in both marketing and talent and culture arenas. I have held executive level, global product marketing positions at both Adobe and Microsoft and have served as a Vice President of Talent and Culture for a leading cause marketing and social responsibility firm.
In my leadership roles, I effectively led international and crossfunctional groups; developed thriving teams of talented and gifted individuals; championed organizational change and innovation; mobilized resources; streamlined processes; created compelling future visions; designed business, marketing and communication plans, strategies and budgets that drove business growth; and made a difference to the organizations, their people and the bottom line.
My first-hand knowledge of the needs, challenges and experiences that women leaders face, provides tremendous benefit to my clients as I help them strategize on business tasks, opportunities, and issues; design a future vision; and plan for moving their organization forward. In addition, I am well-equipped to help women leaders develop their authentic leadership presence and style.
I have been working as a certified coach and consultant with my own private practice since 2001. Over the years, I have served as a marketing and business consultant and coach for a variety of clients including: solopreneurs, start-ups, partnerships, small businesses and large corporations.
My entrepreneurial career began at the age of 23 when I became an “accidental entrepreneur” following a corporate restructuring. My first entrepreneurial venture was a successful consulting and training firm in California.
My entrepreneurial experience allows me to be a valuable ally and partner for my entrepreneurial clients. I am able to serve as an effective sounding board for them as they navigate through the various business tasks and issues at hand. Simultaneously, I work to help clients refine and expand their professional effectiveness and entrepreneurial competencies.
I possess a Master’s Degree in Human Development, with an emphasis on women in midlife, from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California in Public Relations and Communication Theory.
I am a Certified Professional Coach and a graduate of the prestigious Hudson Institute of Coaching. I am an alumna of Women Unlimited LEAD, a yearlong leadership program for executive women, where I was honored with the “Peer Coach of the Year” award.
I am a qualified facilitator for the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) and the InterStrength (TRI) Method of Self-Discovery. Driven by my passion for creativity, I have completed dozens of hours of coursework in the Expressive Arts. I have been a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) since 2001.
I began working with personal computers in 1984. Throughout my career, I have cultivated my tech savvy abilities, marketed some of the world’s leading software applications and leveraged my talent for techmobilizing others into my work with clients.
I have a particular passion for identifying emerging technologies and empowering individuals on how to integrate those technologies into their life and work. It is my belief that technology can be harnessed to not only reduce overload and overwhelm but to enhance creativity and well-being.
I live in the greater Seattle area with my husband, Paul. We dated in college, lost touch for 24 years, serendipitously found each other again and got married in Hawaii almost 7 years ago. We love going on frequent “photo safaris” throughout the Pacific Northwest and spending time together in our beautiful home.
My renewing and energizing practices include: focusing on my breath, practicing mindfulness, meditation, being in nature, healthy cooking and mindful eating, photography, creating word art, writing, journaling, poetry, reading, coloring, pinning on Pinterest and listening to music.
My intentions for 2016 include deepening my practice of Yi Chuan and Therapeutic Yoga; returning to Pilates; infusing more mindfulness into my work and life; and playing with at least one new form of creative expression.
What I Believe
What Clients Say
“I’ve gained so much insight by working with Susan! She not only listens impeccably well (one of the hallmarks of a great coach), she takes what was said and converts that into a beautiful visual graphic using cards, post-its, vision boards, or photographs that capture our conversations. Susan is also incredibly articulate and sends amazing, articulate, and thoughtful emails chock-full of resources, quotes, book recommendations, or names of additional practitioners after our sessions. This above-and-beyond approach has led me to really open up, truly consider what all is possible in my professional and personal world, and helps me re-imagine all that I’m capable of. THANK YOU!“
“Every CEO needs a coach. Every one of us. And Susan has been excellent at helping me with the distillation of my greatest assets, providing branding strategies and marketing references, and creating a space for me to calm down, regroup, and regain hope. The greatest value is the time with Susan to jump up on the balcony, breathe deep, and have a sounding board that’s just for me. Susan brings her own signature presence to the coaching experience, which is different than my approach so it brings a good diversity, which I need. For example, using drawings to project the future, starting sessions with ‘grounding.’“
“For any entrepreneur who wants to consciously take their business to the next level by finding their true voice, aligning every aspect of their marketing with who they are, and letting go of all that doesn’t serve their purpose, Susan is the top entrepreneur coach around. She has an amazing ability to listen deeply to what you truly want. Her compassionate and calming style and excellent follow up supported me during times when I was tempted to return to my comfort zone. She provided personal attention and encouragement that made a difference in the results that I was able to produce. It was the best investment I’ve made in my business and myself!“
“Susan is an outstanding “think partner”. I hired her when I was about to leave my executive job and expected help in managing my transition to entrepreneur. I certainly received magnificent help in this arena. What I didn’t expect was her use of rituals to help me enhance “being” after years of focus on “doing”. Susan helped me to define what I want my day-to-day life to be like, well beyond my business. She kept leading me back to my stated intention, i.e. to engage with initiatives that feed my soul rather than just bring in cash, fill time or volunteer. I now have the gift of time, focus and peace – which were lacking in my previously frenetic life. Thank you!“
“As a woman-owned social enterprise, we needed an executive think partner who could flow with our unique way of working together and provide strategic marketing expertise to move our business to the next level. Susan’s grounded expertise, technological savvy, flexibly structured processes, and appreciation for the beauty way helped us to construct future scenarios with concrete and actionable steps to get there. Her unique perspective and capacity to synthesize and feed back our work were invaluable. We are deeply grateful to Susan and her commitment to helping us create our future.“
“Susan is an inspiration in that she is an example of purpose and authenticity in her daily life. She has coached me through the roller coaster of my career, always with a keen sense of where I am and need to be guided personally. She offers so much more than experience and skill – she does, in fact, bring the gifts of intuition and humanity to her work, and I’m sure to all those she touches. It’s an honor to know and to work with such an exceptional person.“
“Susan has an impressive breadth and depth of business, technology and coaching experience. Her passion for coaching women entrepreneurs and executives is evident in her warm, authentic and creative approach. She is highly skilled in helping clients gain clarity, vision and direction, and in doing so provides support, expands possibilities and strengthens inspiration. With her tech savvy comes innovative approaches that stimulate out-of-the-box thinking and breakthroughs. A very talented and gracious coach!“
“Susan has helped me clarify my values and align it with my vision for my future. She is incredibly organized, bright, tenacious and creative. I cannot say enough about her talents and I highly recommend her to anyone that is thinking about making a change in their life. She helps clarify and articulate your goals with laser focus. As a result of working with Susan I have gone back to graduate school and have created my dream vision for my future. It is an extreme pleasure to work with Susan. I am thrilled with her as a coach and a person. Sign on with her immediately and she will thoughtfully and skillfully lead you through the change you want to be in the world.“
“Perhaps where Susan has helped me the most is in the act of remembering. As Susan knows, I am really busy and have many roles to manage. As I get into my 40s I am finding that it is all too easy for me to book a project and move on to the next item, and in the process forget some of the really important points of connection or insights that tie all of the work I do – that we do – together. In this way, Susan is my mirror, my memory, and my encouraging mentor. I am better with Susan by my side.“
“I have worked with Susan periodically over the course of the past few years including the time period when I was working abroad. Susan has helped me to reflect on my own skills, identify what I find fulfilling, and recognize career opportunities that will work for me. Susan has been great about helping me put all the pieces together. I leave conversations with Susan feeling empowered and better enabled to move my career forward. Susan also helps me to think about my whole self and not just my work self, which has been important to my career planning. A big thank you to Susan!“
“Working with Susan as my solopreneur coach has been extremely valuable and impactful for me, both personally and in my work and ministry. I chose to work with Susan in a 2-day Coaching Intensive followed by a 2-hour coaching session twice a month for 3 months. My results have been outstanding! I have launched a new business that has a target market of hundreds of small businesses that are in need of my services. I absolutely love this work, which offers me the opportunity to work with people I enjoy and respect. And my work offers the further opportunity for my continuous learning and growth. Do not miss the opportunity to work with Susan as your coach!“
